Monitoring of disasters
One of the most obvious uses of Remote Sensing is monitoring of disasters. Disasters can have many faces, such as flooding, burning, land-slides and diseases. In most cases it is possible to document and assess the extent of a disaster directly by visual interpretation of image data, however the properties of many satellite sensors and digital analysis can reveal disasters even before they have been spotted on the ground.
